ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Idrees Kamish

Muhammad Idrees Kamish is a qualified educator who holds a MEd Teachers Degree and has several qualifications, including  a Masters Degree in Arabic and Islamic Studies.  Idrees, who used to be the principal of the Walmer Estate Primary School in Cape Town until 2019, has more than 30 years experience teaching Arabic and Quran Studies.  He is currently still (since 1987) the manager of the At-Tayyibah School of Arabic.

PUBLICATIONS & BLOG POSTS:

Ustaadh Idrees Kamish has produced a number of written publications over the past 35 years.

In addition to his Masters Thesis (1996) and other academic works published during his studies (1987-1995), which included the Translation of Short stories by Yusuf Idris (from Arabic to Afrikaans), he produced The Enjoy Arabic, Book I (1998) for beginners. He also produced Books II and III (2002-2006) in this series, but these have only been published for his students.

During the years 2008-2013 he produced and published the series A Simplified Method towards Understanding the Noble Quran, Books I - V.  This course was presented by the author on Radio 786 during 2008.  Book VI (2015) has not been published in the traditional book form. 

In addition to the above, Idrees has written a large number of posts on the more than a dozen Arabic and other educational blogs he has produced and still maintains.  He also writes about the classes and educational programmes of the Madrasah At-Tayyibah (MAT) on the MAT and other Facebook Pages since 2011.

The Arabic Studies Blogs include: MAT School of Arabic; Read Arabic Today, Speak Arabic Today; Understand The Noble Quran, Rihla-tu-Tulab, as well as the recent Enjoy Arabic More and a few others. In addition to these, he has also designed and maintained several other educational blogs while serving as manager at the Walmer Estate Primary School.
